Experiments, analysis and stories of the online dating scene. Thursday The Unsatisfied Women of Plenty of Fish I’ve been searching around various different blogs lately trying to find different people’s experiences in using PlentyofFish. Lately, I’ve been stumbling across some blog posts by some women who are out in the dating scene looking for potential male suitors. Unfortunately, it seems like a lot of disappointment in the men on the site. And for the most part, these men are making a lot of the common mistakes that I’ve mentioned repeatedly on this very blog. Ratings of potential matches are dramatically affected by race. To demonstrate this, Rudder provides His and Hers bias charts of the “bonus” and “penalty” ascribed by and to members of different races. Yes, black women and Asian men continue to incur depressingly large penalties. Pervasive racial biases affect everyone’s search, but those two groups have a shocking uphill battle. By the same token, Black women really prefer black men, and Asian Men really prefer Asian women. That’s no secret, and it comports with my anecdotal experience R. Black men exhibit the least racially bias in their dating preferences.
On OKC, black men’s racial preferences are effectively zero. This runs contrary to the popular meme that black men exhibit strong preference for white women.

The company recently ran some numbers on response rates for messages sent between almost a million otherwise compatible men and women of varying races, and the results are eye-opening. As a control group, the folks at OKCupid examined reply rates based on zodiac signs. It probably comes as no surprise to the seasoned Internet user that, in general, the ladies have a better chance of getting a reply to a sent message sorry, fellas!
These three types of women only respond well to white men. They respond less than any other group, and they respond least of all to black women. And speaking of black women, who we saw in the last table responded more than other groups: These ladies are receiving fewer responses than their peers of other races. White men and women do not come off particularly well, especially considering the relative open-mindedness of their peers.

You like guys who are athletic, funny and listen to The Smiths. Sense of humor, height, freckles, muscles, taste in movies—all of these are valid preferences. Calling someone out for any form of racism is a remarkably quick way to see tempers flare. When white people in particular hear accusations of racism, hackles rise instantly. I understand that you’re attracted to whom you’re attracted to, but it seems like common decency to me to just send a polite message back saying that you’re not interested. At least then the person who sent you the message doesn’t have to wonder if you read their message or not. I do the same thing. I reply to everyone even if it is to turn them down because I feel its a little rude to ignore them.
Some people were even implying that its not racism but mainly preference. I would have to beg to differ when the chart shows that people respond to every other race of women more often then black women. Even Black men don’t respond to black women hardly at all. Black women’s response rate was in the red while everyone else’s was in the green, White women getting the most responses out of all.

By Paige Tutt Will I always be perceived as the black girl with the big tits and the fat ass, or am I seen as the black girl with the big tits and the fat ass because of the way I dress? My mother would argue the latter. When I almost moved into a notoriously crime heavy part of Boston, my mom and I had a chat. She talked to me about crime rates, about how to be safe at night, about my behavior, and most importantly to her, about the “provocative” way I sometimes dressed.
